"The Friendly Isle". The Hawaiian Island of Molokai has a total geographical land area of 260 square miles and an island Population of about 7,404 residents. Molokai has diversified agriculture, ranching, tourism and the world's highest sea cliffs along its northern coastlines. On a 13-square-mile peninsula below the
high cliffs is Kalaupapa, is the Hansen's Disease settlement, an old leper colony started by
Father Damien and now officially called Kalawao County, a National Historical Park and Hawaiian Landmark. |
