The Power of Prayer
transport back to
the power of the hawaiian healing prayer index navigation directory

The "Power of Prayer" is directly related to the intention and the purity of the heart. As we forgive others, God forgives us. This is the ever present consistent measurement of Divine Law. Forgiveness is one of the most important qualities of Love and quite often one of the most challenging to give graciously. Anger or resentment toward people, places, things or God underminds healing and the power of prayer. A conscious choice in life's experiences must always be made and the question it asks is: "Do I want to be Bitter or Better..?" Prayer under any circumstances and at any time always makes life Better.

How to Pray each Day
transport back to
the power of the hawaiian healing prayer index navigation directory

Prayer has been more recently defined as the time one takes talking to God whereas Meditation has been described as time taken listening to God. I like to incorporate both these pricipals to create a "Prayer-Meditation Combination". Then there is time to talk to God, listen to God, and most importantly, time to become aware of the presence of God in you're Life.
Review some of the many prayers posted on this "Prayer Healing Website". You might accompany your Prayer time with some gentle sacred or relaxing music to enhance your Prayer atmosphere. Be aware of you're Breathing and simply notice how you're feeling. Prayer can include direct mindfull intentions for Peace, Joy, Resolution and of course Love... If you can begin to feel such things during you're Prayertime then you are beginning to feel the presence of God and a natural desire to expand this experience will ensue.
Here are a few things to keep in mind and heart as you say the prayers posted on our "Global Prayer Healing Circle" website :
Surrender your problem whole heartedly to God.
Remain Open and Humble with each and every breath you take.
Forgive all who have purposely or unintentionally hurt you.
Believe... You can be healed. Have faith. Release doubt.
Give Thanks to God for every good thing no matter how small.
Quiet the mind and Open the heart as you Pray.
Scheduling Prayer Time

the power of the hawaiian healing prayer index navigation directory

Scheduling time for Prayer is no different than scheduling any other activity with the exception that Prayer may have a profound effect on how the rest of you're scheduled appointments work out. That's another way of saying "Prayer makes a difference" and can influence your thoughts, words and actions each and every day. If you have a Schedule or Appointment Book why not write in an appointment for Prayer. Your allocated "Time for Prayer" can be anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes or longer in length and you can start to think of this time as your appointment with God or your Higher Power. If you can get up 15-20 minutes earlier in the morning, the quiet time before the day's activity is one of the best times for Prayer. If this is not possible then as little as 5 minutes during a daily break or lunch period at work can work. If these options aren't applicable then evening Prayer before you go to sleep is another of my favorite times for Prayer. I reflect upon the day and pray for deeper understanding and guidance to make the next day even better and brighter. I actually prefer the early Morning and Evening Prayer Time combination. Start simple and stay focused and you're Prayer Time will expand naturally.
You're "Prayer Time" can be "Simple Quiet Time" where you just "Sit Still" and "Breathe" or it can be a time for asking questions and staying silently receptive to answers and guidance. If you're not quite sure how to start this special appointment you can certainly chose from any one of the many Prayers on this page, print it out and simply read it aloud or silently during your "Prayer Time Appointment" each day.

The Jesus Prayer

the power of the hawaiian healing prayer index navigation directory

"The Jesus Prayer" is a very short and simple prayer. It has often also been called; "The Prayer of the Heart". The words of "The Jesus Prayer" are divided into two segments. The first segment expresses heartfelt abiding faith in "Jesus Christ" as the incarnated Son of the "Father Creator God". The second segment of the prayer opens the heart to the wonder of God's Love, Mercy and forgiveness of our shortcomings and the intentional or unintentional hurts we have caused to others. The twelve words of "The Jesus Prayer" affirm a deeper expression of both Praise and Thanksgiving to the "Lord Jesus Christ", while also seeking his Forgiveness and Mercy.
As you pray this Prayer, repeat it slowly giving special attention to each word. As the Prayer is recited, it permeates the thoughts and expressions of the devotee and ultimately brings deeper Compassion and Humility to the heart. Over time the words of the Prayer take on a sacred demension which touch the very presence of the Holy Spirit. I have incorporated this Prayer into my daily life for over 30 years and it has been a great comfort to me personally.
Lord Jesus Christ,
Son of God,
have mercy on me,
a sinner.
The Lord's Prayer

The Lord's Prayer is considered to be the model of all prayer that Jesus taught us during his "Sermon on the Mount". It is recorded in the gospels of Matthew and Luke and is presented here in it's traditional language translation.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory.
For ever and ever... Amen
Prayer of Saint Francis

Saint Francis was born in Assisi, Italy in the year 1182. Like many other Saints throughout history, Saint Francis committed his life to God, lived a very simple life of poverty rich in Spiritual Prayer and Devotion. St Francis gained a reputation of being the friend of animals and is often pictured with a bird perched upon his hand or a dear standing by his side. He established the Monastic Order of St. Francis, or as they are known today; "The Franciscans". St. Francis died in the year 1226 at the age of 44.
Lord, make me an instrument of your Peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow Love.
where there is injury, Pardon.
where there is doubt, Faith.
where there is despair, Hope.
where there is darkness, Light.
where there is sadness, Joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek,
to be consoled as to Console.
to be understood as to Understand.
to be loved as to Love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned.
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life...
Footprints Prayer

the power of the hawaiian healing prayer index navigation directory

One night I had a dream.
I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and across the skies flashed scenes from my life. In each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One was mine, and one was the Lord's.
When the last scene of my life appeared before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand, and, to my surprise, I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. And I noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times in my life.
I asked the Lord about it.
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way. But I notice that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why you left my side when I needed you most."
The Lord said: "My precious child, I never left you during your time of trial. Where you see only one set of footprints,
I was carrying you..."
The Serenity Prayer

No one seems to be quite certain who wrote "The Serenity Prayer", although "Reinhold Niebuhr" is most often credited for it. Some have attributed the Prayer to "Friedrich Oetinger", an 18th century theologian, while others designate the origin of the Serenity Prayer to the "Roman philosopher Boethius", who lived in the early part of the sixth century. The prayer has been popularised by the "Alcohol Anonomus" (A.A.) movement, who have adopted it as the core of their "Twelve Steps Program" and had it printed on small cards for members to carry everywhere they go as a reminder in their wallets.
God grant me the serenity,
to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference...
Living one day at a time.
Enjoying one moment at a time.
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace.
Taking, as He did, this sinful world.
as it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right,
if I surrender to His will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy with Him forever in the next... Amen

O glorious prince St. Michael,
chief and commander of the heavenly hosts,
guardian of souls,
vanquisher of rebel spirits,
servant in the house of the Divine King,
and our admirable conductor,
you who shine with excellence,
and superhuman virtue,
deliver us from all evil,
who turn to you with confidence,
and enable us by your gracious protection,
to serve God,
more and more faithfully every day.

St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against
the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world,
seeking the ruin of souls... Amen
