"The Visions Of Lai Tsi" (Animal Friends) giclee-07 reproduction: (touch image to enlarge) "The Visions of Lai Tsi" also titled "Animal Friends", was created from a watercolor combining Barbara's dreams with research in the library. It depicts a religious story of the Spiritual Master Lai Tsi meditating in China at the time of Buddha. The story tells that he had been very wealthy as a child and gave up his inheritance for a spiritual life and meditated for 15 years in a cave in Northern China. The animals he is surrounded with took care of him and brought him foods and nectars of plants as he meditated. The lion licked his brow with his rough tongue and all creatures cared for him. This painting shows the actual plants and animals and insects that were living in that area in that time in history, which are native to Northern China. "Animal Friends" a watercolor painting by Artist, Barbara Steinberg has recently won an "Honorable Mention" in the NAVS (National Anti-Vivisection Society's) 18th Annual Art for Animals Classic. "Animal Friends" represents a creative and personal expression of the goal of the program which is: "To illustrate NAVS philosophy of respect and compassion for our fellow creatures through Art. Individuals can and do make a difference toward helping end animal suffering, and art can serve as a platform for awareness and activism in a way words cannot. Its voice, in concert with those of other caring individuals, is intrumental in their effort to continue expanding and developing programs that will help find humane solutions to human problems..." "Dream Angel-01" giclee-26 reproduction: (touch image to enlarge) "Dream Angel-01" Barbara actually painted this celestial encounter with Angel's from her own dreams painted with the Angel lover in mind. This painting shows the dreamer, a child, in her bedroom, holding her teddy bear in happy slumber, dreaming of the most magical happy things imaginable in life. Her teddy bear floats up holding onto shimmering baloons as she flies in the sky of candy pink clouds floating into a magical world of flying horse with castles and rainbows. The timeless child meets angelic beings in the pink clouds to behold a happy and memorable dreamland experience. Barbara painted this in three colors of watercolors as an excercise in color blending combined with capturing her own dreams that were sketched the next morning as recorded in her dream book journal. The original dream sketch was then embellished into a larger version in watercolor, painted step by step with dreams guiding her in a spiritually uplifting painting experience. Barbara feels this art will capture the imagination of the children to whom she has dedicated this art as well as to be a delight to youth and staying young at heart. It is painted in the setting on the island of Maui where she has lived for 24 years. The islands of Molokini and Koolawe appear in the background in an imaginary scene with cherubs riding on the backs of their most beloved sea creatures, the dolphins. "Gopal Das" giclee-32 reproduction: (touch image to enlarge) "Gopal Das" Gopal Das was painted in a series of dream guided art from sketches taken from Barbara's dream journal. She then expanded on the theme completing considerable research to capture the clothes and shoes of this period in ancient Egypt. Gopal Das is holding the Ancient Dream Book he created at the time of the Great Pyramid. He is standing in front of the Step Pyramid in this painting. Barbara investigated this ancient dream book in the British Museum in London England where she found remnants of this book on display preserved behind glass. She then was able to procure a number of photos of the actual Ancient Dream Book from the Brtish Museum corresponding with experts on the ancient manuscripts. She studied numerous other texts along with this research to find the hieroglyphics of ancient Egypt which substantiated her hunch that the ancient Egyptians were guided by their dreams and took all dreams seriously as spiritual messages to help in the guidance of one's daily life and how to live life in a pure way.
