"N DIS LIFE" featuring Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole was the final Hawaiian Music album recorded by "Brudda IZ" before his passing in June 1997 at the age of 38. This album is a fitting tribute to the Man and his rich musical heritage. "N' Dis Life" evolves from the now famous "Facing Future" Music CD which garnered "IZ" international recognition with the song "Somewhere over the Rainbow / What A Wonderful World". Love ballads and heartfelt vocal tapestries unfold this beautiful album with Native Hawaiian culture and a tribute to the famous Hawaiian Sumo wrestles included. IZ's smooth golden vocals bring about a keen sensitivity and empathy to the ancient Hawaiian culture and brings the listener into a deeper state of apreciation for the simple ways in life. A beautiful tribute to the man and now the Hawaiian Music legend.
Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole (May 20, 1959 - June 26, 1997) or "IZ" as he was affectionately called, is one of the most beloved and fondly remembered Hawaiian Music artists and composers in the Hawaiian islands.
"Israel Kamakawiwoole" was Born in Honolulu Hawaii in 1959 and spent the first five years of his life with his Grandfather, ("Tutu Kane" in Hawaiian) on the
Hawaiian island of Niihau. In 1964 he returned to the
island of Oahu to live with his immediate family and learned the importance of his
Hawaiian language and heritage. IZ was a native Hawaiian, who upon his death in 1997, at the age of 38, was only the second citizen to receive the honor of having his body lay in state at the capitol building in
Honolulu Hawaii.
While Israel Kamakawiwo'ole the Hawaiian singer better known simply as "IZ" first came to public attention as a member of the popular Hawaiian group known as "The Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau", it was his solo career which brought him into national noteriety. Those who mourned his passing in 1997 and countless others who know little about the Hawaiian native will be inspired by the depth of range on the "IZ in Concert" album. Izzy's vocal renderings are accompanied by his now famous solo ukelele performances including the beautiful rendition of "White Sandy Beach in Hawaii" and many other Hawaiian Music favorities. Relax and celebrate with the sweet sounds and excitment of the
"IZ in Concert" live performance album.
